“Antimafie”: National Anticorruption Center starts to show particular institutional autonomy

The leader of the political party People’s Movement “Antimafie” Sergiu Mocanu said that particular institutional autonomy is witnessed at some of the state bodies, in particular the National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. However, the leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc still manages to control the administration of these institutions, not yet the prosecution officers and prosecutors, who do their job.

In a news conference at IPN, Sergiu Mocanu said the law enforcement agencies of Moldova, especially the National Anticorruption Center and the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, focus on the fight against mafia and European instruments started to be used by these. The prosecution officers and prosecutors are the only partners of the West and these honestly fulfill their duties even if they risk being fired.

According to Sergiu Mocanu, Vlad Plahotniuc is trying to frustrate the two institutions and still coordinates particular cases. He can revive particular cases, but can no longer stop them. The Democratic leader also tries to impose his political agenda on the law enforcement agencies. Plahotniuc still exerts influence through corrupt judges, who issue arrest warrants at his order.

In another development, Sergiu Mocanu spoke about the initiatives to change the electoral system, saying Vlad Plahotniuc aimed and managed to assert himself as a political leader by these.

The politician also said that the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo is false as Plahotniuc actually has criminal cases against Igor Dodon and Dodon is to be ultimately arrested following the arrests of Chirtoaca, Luchinski and others.
