CES extends period during which grain can be imported only with Agriculture Ministry’s permission

The import of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds into Moldova will continue to be allowed based on a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. A decision to this effect was approved by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CES), IPN reports.

According to the Commission, the measure is extended for a period of three months in order to maintain an economically sustainable price of domestic grain products on the internal market.

An application for the import license can be submitted by a legal or natural person engaged in economic activities in the manufacture of oils and fats, milling products, fodder for farm animals. The applications will be examined by a commission set up by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The obligation to obtain the Ministry’s permission for the import of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds was instituted in early 2023.
