The import of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds into Moldova will continue to be allowed based on a license issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry. A decision to this effect was approved by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CES), IPN reports.
According to the Commission, the measure is extended for a period of three months in order to maintain an economically sustainable price of domestic grain products on the internal market.
An application for the import license can be submitted by a legal or natural person engaged in economic activities in the manufacture of oils and fats, milling products, fodder for farm animals. The applications will be examined by a commission set up by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The obligation to obtain the Ministry’s permission for the import of wheat, corn and sunflower seeds was instituted in early 2023.
