Contest to confer National Award for elderly people

The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family is launching the National Award for people aged 60 and over, who achieved special results in the fields of culture, arts, technology, science, civic activism, medicine, entrepreneurship, agriculture, sport and information technology. Those who want to apply to the contest can file applications by September 1. The winners will be awarded on September 22, IPN reports.

The winners will be handed over diplomas and a money award. The file should contain personal data and the CV, documents confirming the accomplishments in the specified areas, a letter of recommendation and should be submitted to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family situated at 1 Vasile Alecsandri St.

The Ministry is also launching a program of small grants designed to support and promote active aging in Moldova. The contest is open to NGOs that implement projects and initiatives with an impact on the promotion of policies on active aging at national and regional levels. The applicant NGOs must have a legal status, be noncommercial organizations where the elderly people represent 2/3 of the members and composition of the administrative bodies and should also contribute at least 20% of the value of the submitted project.

A sum of 100,000 lei was allocated from the state budget for financing projects approved by the examination commission. The deadline for submissions is July 14, 4pm.
