A young man aged 20, who struck two pedestrians, one of whom died on the spot, was sentenced to three years and six months in jail and banned from driving for a period of up to five years, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The young man is from Speia village of Anenii Noi district. The tragedy happened on July 19 last year. After he took one of the Baccalaureate exams, the man drank alcoholic beverages and went away by his car. Losing control of the vehicle, he changed lanes into the opposition direction and struck two girls. As a result of the impact, one of the victims aged 19 died immediately, while a girl aged 11 suffered multiple fractures.
The girls were going to swim in the Nistru River. The girl who died was a classmate of the driver.
