Electricity in the Transnistrian region is on the rise again. New tariffs from April 1

Residents of the Transnistrian region will pay more for electricity from today. This is not the first tariff increase since the beginning of this year. In the context of economic difficulties and lack of energy resources, the local administration has approved new prices for end consumers, this time citing the price of gas delivered, IPN reports.

The tariff for the population will increase by 3 kopecks - from 1.39 to 1.42 rubles per kilowatt-hour. The decision adopted at a local government meeting on March 31 is motivated by the gas shortage, which has led to a reduction in electricity production and increased production costs. Tiraspol promises not to increase prices for other services provided to the population.

The tariffs were discussed as part of a budget review in the context of the exceptional state of the Transnistrian economy. Moreover, the administration wants to reallocate funds for salaries, pensions and allowances, and is emphasizing so-called current expenses.

In the meantime, schools in the region are shortening lessons to half an hour because of the cold in the classrooms. The exception is the institution in Bender, where the educational process continues. The switch to online learning is not being considered, but children are simply being urged to wear thick clothes to school.
