The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, took part in the international conference "Economic Trends 2025", held in Bucharest, where she discussed Moldova's economic transformations in the context of European integration. The event brought together officials of financial institutions and representatives of the economic environment from both sides of the Prut, IPN reports.
The head of the NBM noted the progress made by Moldova in the context of economic reforms: "Moldova has been put back on the world map, alongside the great European family".
Another topic was the evolution of inflation in Moldova. Anca Dragu said that forecasts indicate a gradual return to the target range, which should contribute to maintaining macroeconomic balances.
The governor also mentioned the recent integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European SEPA payment system, an important step to facilitate financial transfers between Moldova and the European Union.
At the same time, the Head of the NBM mentioned the success of the national instant payment system MIA, introduced last year and quickly adopted by the population. Currently, almost one third of people who have bank cards make payments through MIA, said Anca Dragu.
At the end of her speech, the Governor of the National Bank emphasized the importance of gender equality in the economy, encouraged the increase of women in leadership positions and mentioned the recent NBM initiative "FinanciarELE - the female leadership community", which supports the development of women's financial and leadership skills.
