Over 14 million lei from Moldovans' income taxes went to non-profit organizations and religious entities. The money to these organizations was directed by the more than 38,000 taxpayers in Moldova, by designating 2 percent of the total taxes, IPN reports.

According to the Official Report on Percentage Designation in 2024, 35,000 designations totaling 15.5 million lei were validated.

Almost 3,000 designations were invalidated due to debts or the inclusion of beneficiaries that were not on the list of eligible organizations.

The percentage designation mechanism allows citizens who pay income tax to directly support NGOs or religious entities. The condition is to have no debts and to submit the income tax return by the legal deadline, which is April 30.
