150 tonnes of expired refrigerated fruit and vegetables found in Causeni

150 tonnes of refrigerated fruit and vegetables with the expired shelf life were discovered at the storehouse of a company in Causeni. According to the Ministry of the Interior, besides the expired products, the police also found about 500 tonnes of products without the use-by date, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference on Thursday, Vitalie Briceag, subunit head at the Ministry of the Interior’s Fraud Division, said the shelf life of the refrigerated fruit and vegetables expired last summer. At a storehouse in Chisinau of the same company, the police discovered 2.5 tonnes of refrigerated fruit and vegetables that did not have the use-by date indicated. The products were valued at 4 million lei. Vitalie Briceag said the company managed to sell a part of the products to four well-known shop chains in Chisinau. The police are to establish if the shops’ administration knew that the products were without the use-by date. A criminal case was started over violation of the trading rules.
