Rescuers and firefighters on March 20 and on the night of March 21 towed away 16 motor vehicles that got stuck in snowdrifts. A trolleybus remained blocked on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd in Chisinau, while a passenger bus skidded off the road in Byk village of Chisinau municipality, IPN reports.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the rescuers intervened mainly on roads in Bati and Chisinau municipalities, in ATU Gagauzia and in the districts of Ungheni, Causeni, Anenii Noi, Soroca, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, and Cahul.
The State Road Administration said all the dangerous road sections are monitored and steps are taken whenever necessary.
According to the Customs Service, the hovercraft customs post “Cosauti” was temporarily closed after the level of water rose in the Nistru. Travellers are recommended to use the customs posts “Soroca” and “Otaci” that are situated in the vicinity.
The Chisinau City Hall said traffic on the streets of the municipality moves in winter conditions. A number of 302 trolleybuses and 99 buses are running on routes. At 4am, the Public Amenities Division engaged 40 units of transport in the works to clean snow from streets, sidewalks and access ways to yards of apartment buildings.
In emergencies, the citizens are urged to call the services 901, 902 and 903.
