20 doctoral students will receive excellence scholarships

Twenty doctoral students will benefit from excellence scholarships of 2,500 lei and seven doctoral students will receive nominal scholarships of 2,000 lei this year, Info-Prim Neo reports. Gheorghe Duca, president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, said that doctoral students from 37 research institutions and higher education establishments from the existing 44 took part in the contest. Twenty-eight proposals were submitted for obtaining excellence scholarships and 13 proposals – for nominal scholarships. The selection criteria included: the average mark at the admission exams, doctoral students’ publications in specialized journals, holding of invention patents, participation in conferences and symposiums, diplomas won at conferences and symposiums, etc. The Balti State University “Alecu Russo”, the Institute of Phtiziopulmonology “Chiril Draganiuc” and the University in Comrat informed the Academy of Sciences of Moldova that they do not have candidates that meet the conditions of the contest. The applications of the candidates from the State University of Moldova have not been admitted as they did not take admission exams. The scholarships will be paid by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
