50 sq.m. of green areas for a Moldovan townsperson

The green areas last year occupied 7,400 hectares or one tenth of the areas occupied by the Moldovan towns. This is 50 square meters of squares, gardens, parks and tourist and recreational areas per one townsperson, the National Bureau of Statistics has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The highest such ratio was recorded in Vadul lui Voda town of the municipality of Chisinau – 1,091.5 square meters per resident, while the lowest one in Basarabeasca town – 7 square meters. As many as 126 hectares of land were planted with saplings in 2008, down 14.8% from a year earlier.
