70 servicemen complete mandatory military service

70 servicemen who were enrolled in the National Army last fall were awarded diplomas in a ceremony on Tuesday marking the completion of their mandatory military service and relegation to the reserve, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I trust that your example shown over the past year will serve as a moral guide for those who will be called in your place to fulfill their constitutional duty of defending Moldova's sovereignty and integrity”, stated Brig.Gen. Igor Cutie, the director of the National Army's General Staff, during the ceremony that was held at the Chisinau Garrison. Col. Eduard Ohladciuc, head of the Personnel Department, revealed that 500 other servicemen will complete their service until November and a new group of recruits will be enrolled in the Armed Forces starting October 29. Drafts into the Moldovan Armed Forces take place four times a year. The duration of the mandatory military service is 12 months.
