About 30% of the personnel of all the ministries will be made redundant when the administrative reform starts, including at the level of the Government, deputy secretary general of the executive Valentin Guznac stated in an interview for Radio Free Europe, quoted by IPN.

According to him, there is now no official decision concerning layoffs, modifications or mergers of state institutions, ministries or agencies. There are probably working lists at the level of the Prime Minister and Cabinet members responsible for the administrative reform, but these are not yet final and can be yet modified.

“If such changes are made in the structure of governmental institutions, the law will rule and this clearly defines the steps and actions that are taken in cases of merger or liquidation of state institutions,” said Valentin Guznac.

According to him, there is now a Government decision concerning the reform of the State Chancellery and the required steps were taken. The employees are warned about possible layoffs. “At the current stage, the Government decision does not envision relevant modifications in bodies managed by the State Chancellery, but this does not mean that we will not move on in this direction. It is important to take consistent steps. The reform of the State Chancellery is the first step and the Government reform is the next one, as the Prime Minister declared and as it is stipulated in the strategy for reforming the public administration,” said the deputy secretary general of the executive.

By the end of this December, the reform of the State Chancellery will be completed. The reform of the Government and the central public authorities starts next January.
