Aerodromului St residents protest against construction of attic-like apartments

Dwellers of the apartment building situated at 6 Aerodromului St in Chisinau are protesting against the construction of attic-like apartments on their block. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the head of the Architecture and Urbanism Division Radu Blaj said the urbanism certificate for designing attic-like apartments was issued in April. It was signed by the chief architect of Chisinau, the deputy mayor and the secretary and is thus perfectly legally. According to Radu Blaj, those who staged the protests pursue certain goals. “We are blackmailed into offering them apartments or private houses in exchange for a signature. No company would want to erect something in such conditions. There is a very simple procedure that allows building attic-like apartments. Under Law No. 163, such apartment can be built after obtaining the consent of the dwellers whose rights can be infringed,” stated Radu Blaj. He also said that the urbanism certificate was issued even if not all the dwellers of the last story gave their consent. The construction authorization will be issued only after all the dwellers agree to building attic-like apartments on their block.
