The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology formulated a set of legislative amendments that allow taking home the pensions, indemnities and allowances for all the beneficiaries. The move comes after Prime Minister Vlad Filat informed that more and more elderly persons complain they cannot go to the post office to take their pensions themselves, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Ministry. The state-run company Moldova's Post Office has the technical and human capacity needed to distribute the pensions at home, but does not have the necessary financial resources, said ICT Minister Alexandru Oleinic. The indemnities and state benefits are taken home for person who cannot go to post offices because of poor health, at their request and with the service provider's consent. Under the legislation, these persons should constitute about 30% of the total number of recipients. The Ministry says that despite the costs incurred, Moldova's Post Office grants pensioners' requests and takes the indemnities, pensions and other benefits home for about 60% of the beneficiaries. If the proposed amendments are approved by the Government, all those who want will receive the pensions at home.
