Annual meeting of judges to be held at end-February

The annual meeting of judges will take place on February 18. In the meeting, the president of the Supreme Council of Magistrates Dumitru Visternicean will present a report on the Council’s role in strengthening the judiciary, while the president of the Supreme Court of Justice Ion Muruianu will speak about the accomplishments and shortcomings in the legal system, Info-Prim Neo reports. Also, Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase will render a report themed “Judicial Reform Priorities”. The annual meeting of judges will be held at the Trade Unions House. Last year, the event turned into a scandal after Ion Muruianu called the journalists “rabid dogs that are dangerous for society”. A number of protests followed. Muruianu was dismissed by Parliament, but was then reinstated.
