The Baptist Church “Annunciation” called upon the LGBT community to abandon the intention of staging a march on May 19 as they can provoke violence. Senior pastor Vasile Filat told a news conference that homosexuals’ acts are condemnable because sin cannot be promoted, IPN reports.
“Stop doing harm to yourself and to others. Homosexuality is considered by God as hideous passion. It leads to physical and mental destruction, destroys families and causes social degradation,” said the pastor, addressing the sexual minorities.
He also said that these actions are only the first consequences of the Law on Equality of Chances. “In the election campaign, they promised that the law will not legalize homosexuality, but didn’t keep their word. We are disappointed with this decision and think about consequences. Somebody said that politicians’ mistakes are crimes against the nation. The adoption of this law was a crime,” said Vasile Filat.
He urged the LGBT community to turn the face to God. “We are fully convinced that God has the power to rid them of this passion. The solution exists. Follow the example of the homosexuals from Corint town, who repented and were accepted into God’s kingdom,” said the senior pastor.
Vasile Filat also said that the Baptist Church will not take part in the counter-events scheduled for May 19. He considers that the march of the LGBT community will provoke violence. “Our Church supports only peaceful protests,” said the pastor. According to him, sins should not be promoted as something natural and a sin cannot be transformed into virtue.
The Baptist Church “Annunciation” on May 19 will give a biblical seminar centering on the family created according to God’s laws. The participants will fast and pray.
