Anticorruption Center officer suspected of illegal wiretapping arrested

One of the two officers of the National Anticorruption Center who are suspected of illegally tapping phones at the Main State Tax Inspectorate was arrested. The other officer is investigated outside prison, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Center. According to the Center, the two were officially classed as suspects in the legal case concerning illegal wiretapping at the Main State Tax Inspectorate. They are suspected of illegally listening to the telephone conversations of a high-ranking official of the Inspectorate. The Inspectorate’s head Nicolae Vicol was put under arrest for 72 hours, being suspected of passive corruption, abuse of power, and violation of the inviolability of private life.
