Officers of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime found and seized about 2 kilograms of gold of dubious origin in two outlets located in northern Moldova. It was determined that about 700 gold items to the value of 1 000 000 lei did not meet the legal norms, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Center. Over 600 gold articles weighing about 1 kilogram and a half were seized in a shop in Falesti district. The jewelry did not have the hallmark of the Marking Supervision Chamber of the Ministry of Fiance and information about the producer, which is a flagrant violation of the legislation on the sale of items made of precious metals. The other gold items were seized in Rezina town. They did not have the hallmark and documents of origin. The directors of the two shops are liable to fines of up to 10,000 lei, in accordance with articles 265 and 282 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. The General Local Division “North” is investigating the two cases. The Center's subdivisions this year have seized over 7 kilograms of gold and silver articles worth about 2 000 000 lei.
