Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc loses control over the captured state as the law enforcement bodies started to have particular institutional autonomy, deputy head of the People’s Movement “Antimafie” Daniela Bodrug said in a news conference at IPN.

According to Daniela Bodrug, the measures taken by the National Anticorruption Center last week, which resulted in the arrest of public servants, including Liberal minister Iurie Chirinciuc, went beyond the relations between Vlad Plahotniuc and Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu because the law enforcement bodies of Moldova cooperate with international institutions when it is about the embezzlement of European funds. In this regard, Vlad Plahotniuc knew very well from the very beginning what Mihai Ghimpu’s fate will be and premeditatedly pushed him towards European funds through the Liberal leader’s ministers and through Chisinau City Hall functionaries, by different projects.

The deputy head of “Antimafie” noted last week’s arrests have nothing to do with the replacement of the party-list proportional representation system with the uninominal voting system, as they assert. The uninominal voting system is used only as a stratagem. The struggle is for the creation of a factory of MPs that will be controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc.

“As a result of last week’s arrests, Dorin Chirtoaca (Mayor of Chisinau, first deputy head of the Liberal Party – e.n.) could vacate his seat before time and not because of the dismissal by referendum. He is looking for ways to withdraw from the City Hall. This way, Vladimir Plahotniuc gains political advantages through Mihai Ghimpu. Plahotniuc will name a person to serve as mayor on an interim basis and this will control the voters in the capital city,” stated Daniela Bodrug.

She also said that Vlad Plahotniuc has one more available instrument – the delay or hastening of investigations into different cases, depending on the pursued goals. He prepares other parties of the right to replace the Liberal Party, such as Anatol Salaru’s party. The political left is sufficiently consolidated, being led by Igor Dodon, who is directly controlled by Vlad Plahotniuc.

“Antimafie” describes the withdrawal of Liliana Palihovici from Parliament and from the public post held as an act of political cowardice. Daniela Bodrug said the former Liberal-Democratic heavyweight knew she will be replaced by an MP of those who were bought by Plahotniuc.
