The people living at 13/2 Miron Costin St in Chisinau remained without water because a dweller has a debt of about 20,000 lei for water and sewerage, which is half of the total debt of the block, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, in order to recover the debts, they sometimes need to disconnect the dwellers from the water supply system though this is not an advantageous measure from financial viewpoint. Some of the housing stock managers gathered together the dwellers with debts and, in only several days, found financial resources to pay a large part of the debts.

The administrator of the given block warned the dweller with debts about the existing risks and ultimately sued him. The supply of water to this building will be resumed only when at least a part of the total debt is paid. The Chisinau water supplier warns that the disconnections will continue and another 50 blocks situated in Centru, Rascani and Ciocana districts risk remaining without water owing to debts.

The list of apartment buildings that will remain without water because of debts was published on the public utility’s website www.acc.md. The administration of SA “Apa-Canal” calls on all the consumers to pay the water bills on time.
