Humorist artist Vasile Tumuruc said he became the victim of health professionals who showed incompetence in their job and who are also swindlers.
In a news conference at IPN, Vasile Tumuruc said that in 2014 he was admitted to the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection to have surgery on a leg. After he was operated and was discharged, one of the sustained wounds started to bother him. He went to another doctor and this covered a wad forgotten by the surgeon in one of the wounds.
Vasile Tumuruc went to court and in two years won the case. The hospital where he was operated was obliged to pay damages to him, but this hasn’t done it.
In another case related by the artist, a doctor of the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery asked for over 6,000 lei from a person who accompanied him because he was operated at the neck. But he was assured from the start that the surgery is free and all the costs are covered by the National Health Insurance Company. After he was operated, the reliable person who was near him told him that when he asked the doctor about his state of health, this said he has to pay 1,000 lei to the anesthesiologist and over 5,000 lei to him for performing the operation.
Vasile Tumuruc said that when he recovered, he asked the doctor what was the money for and this said he did something additionally during the surgery and also said that he does not intend to issue him with a receipt for this service. After this discussion, the medical personnel’s attitude to him changed not to the better.
The humorist artist noted that he reported the second case, of corruption, to the National Anticorruption Center where he was later invited to make statements, but wasn’t told if an investigation was opened. He also reported the case to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, but received no reaction from this.
Vasile Tumuruc said he will go to court again. He intends to demand that the doctor who made the mistake in 2014 should be deprived of license, while the second doctor, who asked money from him for a free operation, should be held accountable.
