The Government on December 12 named MP Artur Reshetnikov, former director of the Security and Intelligence Service, as judge of the Constitutional Court. It happens only one day after the Superior Council of Magistracy appointed ex-prosecutor general Corneliu Gurin to a similar post.

The Constitutional Court is the only authority with constitutional power in Moldova. It consists of six judges. The Government, Parliament and the Superior Council of Magistracy each name by two judges who serve a six-year term in office, IPN reports.

In the same meeting of the Government, Dumitru Parfentiev was dismissed from the post of director general of the National Health Insurance Company based on his resignation. Tamara Andrushka, who served as a member and vice president of the Court of Auditors, was named in his place.
