Ala Popescu was dismissed from the post of member of the Audit Office by a Parliament decision adopted on September 23, based on her resignation, IPN reports.
The head of the Communist parliamentary group Inna Supac said an illegality was committed when Ala Popescu was appointed as Audit Office member as the legislation bans naming persons of retirement age to this post. Ala Popescu was a pensioner when her candidacy was accepted.
Unaffiliated MP Anatolie Zagorodnyi, deputy head of the legal commission for appointments and immunities, who presented the initiative, said a mistake was made as nobody noticed that Ala Popescu didn’t meet the legal requirements. Now this mistake will be corrected and a new person will be named to this post.
Ala Popescu remains secretary general of Parliament yet.
