Average pension will rise by 18 lei from next April

The pensions on April 1, 2012 will be increased by 7.85%. The percentage was calculated based on the projected rise of 8% in the average annual consumer price index for 2011 and of 7.7% in the monthly nominal salary. Under the draft 2012 State Social Insurance Budget Law, the old age pension will rise by 18 lei from next April, to 972 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports. The average disability pension will be 780 lei, as against 765 lei at present, while the successor’s pension – 513 lei, up 10 lei. The average seniority pension will be 2 672 lei, as opposed to 2 526 lei in 2011. A sum of 6.9 billion lei was earmarked in the State Social Insurance Budget for next year for paying pensions. More than 632,000 persons will be entitled to pensions in 2012, by over 7,000 more than this year.
