The Balti Appeals Court rejected the appeal filed by the 13 persons who were arrested on suspicion that they founded and ran an illegal organization in northern Moldova. Thus, the members of the paramilitary group will stay under arrest, IPN reports.
By its decision, the Appeals Court upheld the previous court decision to place the suspects under arrest for 30 days. The 13 members of the group were arrested on November 25 as a result of a search carried out in the north of the country.
According to the deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, the 13 persons aged between 20 and 47, from the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, were arrested for creating and managing an illegal group. The group intended to recruit 300 persons and attack the Balti military unit in order to arm themselves and to then free 400 detainees from the Balti-based penitentiary so as to engage these in their activities.
