The doctors in Balti consider the high incidence of tuberculosis in the town is worrisome even if the number of cases of TB has decreased over the last few years, IPN reports.

Feodora Rodiukova, head of the Balti Health Division, said the tuberculosis morbidity last year was 94.83 cases per 100,000 people, by 34.67 cases fewer than in 2013. Last year there were recorded 111 new cases, three of which in children.

According to the specialist, the disease is caught mainly by persons who are able to work, aged 25-45. Poverty, the insanitary conditions and the indifference to the own state of health continue to cause new cases of TB. Therefore, conditions should be created to isolate the infected persons until these recover.

Official records show there were 162 persons suffering from tuberculosis in the municipality of Balti on January 1, 2015.
