Barometer of happiness in Moldova

Slightly over 36% of the respondents of a poll conducted by Focus Consulting consider themselves happy. 24.26% said they are rather happy, while 16.15% said they are unhappy. 9.42% of those polled said they are almost happy, while 14% didn’t answer the question. Most of those who said they are happy are from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, IPN reports.

The poll shows 52.88% of the working respondents said they are happy. Among the surveyed pensioners, the figure stands at 18.62%, among the polled jobless persons at 18.45%, while among the interviewed students  at 10.05%.

The ATU Gagauzia is the region with the largest share of happy people – 59.15%. 37.5% of the happy people live in Chisinau municipality, while 28.95% are from northern Moldova.

The survey reveals the ratio of happy men to happy women is of 49.92%:50.08%.

The poll was carried out between May 29 and July 7 through information technology and covered a sample of 2,000 people from 139 communities.
