BCC penalizes radio stations and TV channels

A number of radio stations and TV channels Friday were punished by the Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) for committing a number of irregularities, Info-Prim Neo reports. Among the penalized radio stations are: “Ploaia de argint”, “Fresh FM”, “Megapolis”, “Vocea Basarabiei”, “Discovery fm”, “Radio Noroc”, and “Micul Samaritean”. In most of the cases, the broadcasters ignored provisions of the Broadcasting Code when setting the broadcast schedules and broadcast hidden advertisements. Another three radio stations – “Radio Poli Disc”, “Radio Chisinau” and “Hit FM” - received warnings. In the same meeting, the BCC issued public warnings against “NIT”, “Prime”, “TV7”, “TVC21” and other TV channels. According to the monitoring results, these channels did not dub or subtitle a number of movies in the official language. The BCC members said that though there are more related irregularities, the situation as regards the dubbing and subtitling in the official language has improved compared with half a year ago. However, they stressed they will penalize the TV channels tougher until no such irregularities exist.
