The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) selected two candidates to fill existing vacancies on the Supervisory Board of the national broadcasting company Teleradio-Moldova. These are Larisa Calugaru and Valeriu Turcanu, Info-Prim Neo reports. Three other candidates also submitted applications: Ruslan Berzoi, Nadine Gogu and Alexandru Leanca. All five candidates were invited for an interview at the BCC's meeting on June 24, but only three appeared: Valeriu Turcanu, Larisa Calugaru and Nadine Gogu. Valeriu Turcanu, one of the candidates selected by the BCC, is an editor-in-chief at the Moldova-Film Studio. He said that, if elected as Board member, he would propose changing the concept of the public television and creating a number of new programs, investigations and economic polls. The other selected candidate, Larisa Calugaru, had worked for 7 years at a radio station before starting her won business. Larisa Calugaru says that it is important to diversify the color palette used by the public television; the design of studios and the appearance of presenters should be changed. Larisa Calugaru was selected with 5 votes and Valeriu Turcanu with 6 votes out of 8. The selected candidates will be proposed to the specialized parliamentary commission for consideration, which will then elect one.
