Sixteen TV channels will be monitored by the Broadcasting Coordination Council during seven days. The measure was agreed in the January 27 meeting of the Council.
Head of the Council’s TV Monitoring Division Elena Crasmaru stated for IPN that the broadcasters will be monitored to see how they observe the Broadcasting Code’s Article 11 “Protection of linguistic and cultural-national heritage”. The law provides that the own, national and European programs must represent at least 80% of broadcasters’ program services. 50% of these must be transmitted during prime time. Also, the own and national informational and analytical programs broadcast in the official language must represent minimum 80%.
The monitoring will start on any day, following the publication of the Council’s decision in the Official Gazette.
The 16 TV channels are: Moldova1, Prime TV, Publika TV, Canal 3, TV7, STS Mega, Euro TV, Realitatea TV, N4, TVC 21, Accent TV, ITV, NTV Moldova, Noroc TV, RTR Moldova, and REN Moldova.
