Calls to 116 (xxx) phone numbers will be free

The suppliers of fixed-line and mobile phone networks and services are obliged to ensure free access to any fixed-line or mobile phone post, to numbers of the 116 (xxx) format that are intended for harmonized social services, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology. Under the National Numbering Plan, 116000 will be used as an emergency number for missing children, 116111 – for the telephone assistance service for children, while 116123 − for the telephone assistance service providing emotional support. The Agency will allot numbers of the 116 (xxx) format to the suppliers at request, based on their applications. The suppliers will transmit the number to the social service providers under contract. The decision of the Agency’s Administration Board was published in the Official Gazette on October 21 and will come into force on February 1, 2012.
