The 27-year-old man accused of raping and murdering a girl aged seven from Drochia district is to stand trial. The Drochia Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation and sent the case to court, IPN reports.
The tragedy happened in Hasnasenii-Mari village of Drochia district, where the victim lived together with her family, on January 13. After going through the village to sing New Year songs together with her friends, the girl was heading home. The culprit lured her with candies and took her to the outskirts of the village, where he raped and stabbed her and threw her into a well while yet alive.
The girl knew the man as he was a relative of her stepfather. Her body was found in five days by a shepherd.
When questioned by the prosecutors, the offered admitted his guilt. He faces life imprisonment.
