The depositors of Bănca de Economii (Savings Bank) born in 1958-1991 this year can collect the sums indexed at the second stage. Furthermore, the sums indexed at the first stage will continue to be paid to persons born until 1991 inclusive, who, for different reasons, were unable to collect the sums the previous years, IPN reports.
Dina Roșca, secretary general of the Ministry of Finance, reminded that the deposits are indexed according to the balance on January 2, 1992. At the first stage, 1,000 rubes of the cumulative balance in all the deposits of a person are indexed according to the ratio 1 ruble: 1 leu. At the second stage, the ratio is 2.5 rubles: 1 leu.
A sum of 86 million lei was earmarked in the 2022 state budget for compensating the depositors of Banca de Economii for their losses. The indexed sums are paid through Moldova’s Post Office.
The indexation of deposits started in 2003. According to the Ministry of Finance, 911 million lei was paid to those entitled in 2003-2021.
