Maxim Lebedinski has vacated the post of member of the Central Election Commission (CEC). The resignation application was submitted to Parliament given the incompatibility with the new post of adviser to the President on legal matters and institutional relations and his representative in the relations with the Government and Parliament held by Lebedinski.

“So as not to misinterpret or arbitrarily interpret the law, we requested the National Integrity Authority, which is the only authority empowered to solve problems related to conflicts of interests, to pronounce. To avoid being involved in lawsuits, I decided to tender my resignation,” Maxim Lebedinski stated for IPN.

Thus, Parliament is to examine the resignation application, to accept it and to choose a new CEC member.

Maxim Lebedinski was named member of the Central Election Commission on January 17, 2016.
