Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will ask the Administration Board of the heat supplier SA Termocom to discharge director Mihail Cernei. The move follows a notification received by the municipality from the National Anticorruption Center, IPN reports.
In the April 8 meeting of City Hall officials, Dorin Chirtoaca said the Center informed that Mihail Cernei rented two cars from his daughter and son-in-law for a year and paid rental of over 175,000 lei from the company’s budget. Furthermore, he spent about 34,000 lei on fuel.
“According to the notification, Cernei has been involved in a series of illegalities, including renting of units of transport from relatives and provision of legal advice to the value of 300,000 lei,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
Attending the meeting, Mihail Cernei said the cars were needed by the company’s employees and, when the lease contracts were signed, he didn’t inquire who the owners were. “It’s not my business what cars my daughter and my son-in-law have. Furthermore, my son-in-law no longer works at Termocom,” the director explained.
The deputy head of Ciocana district Nicolae Grajdian received a severe reprimand after he gave an answer that the mayor didn’t like in the meeting. The mayor inquired about the traders who sold fish at the intersection of the streets Petru Zadnipru and Mircea cel Batran on April 7. Grajdian said he was responsible for garbage, not for fish. This answer angered the mayor.
