The municipality of Chisinau is working out a project to manage underground passages. By a senior contractor will be entrusted with the task of maintaining an underground passageway in the capital city.
Igor Gamretski, acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division, has told IPN that the municipality wants to make sure that every underground passage is laid out, cleaned and lit appropriately. It is hard to cooperate with 15 persons who rent areas in an underground passage. When a contract is signed with a senior contractor, it will be easier to manage things.
According to Igor Gamretski, there is an association of underground passage renters and the municipality is carrying out negotiations with its representatives. Asked about the underground passageway near the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, which is one of the dirtiest in Chisinau, Igor Gamretski said he knows about the situation in that area. Even if the municipality invests in that passage, the result will not be long-lasting if there is no administrator. The situation will change when a company signs a contract with the municipality for managing the passageway for a period of five to ten years. This way, the company will be motivated to invest in the repair of the underground passage.
The project will be submitted to the municipal councilors for approval by the end of this year.
