The traditions of carol singing, promoted at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, are writing history. Now in its eighth year, the 'Christ is Born, Praise Him' carol singing festival brought to the fore the beauty and significance of carol singing as an essential part of the winter holidays. The event brought together choirs and ensembles from all over the country, offering the public a performance in the Christmas spirit, IPN reports.

The aim of the event was to highlight the beauty of the caroling tradition, rooted in the culture and spirituality of our people. The program included religious carols, which evoke the birth of Jesus Christ, as well as secular carols, which reflect the traditions specific to different regions of Moldova.

Through song and tradition, participants brought the Christmas spirit to life in an original cultural setting.

The National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History emphasizes the importance of preserving customs. In 2013, the "Colindatul de ceată bărbătească" was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, an initiative supported by the communities of the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

"I would like to thank all the ensembles and choirs for their contribution, which turned the event into a tribute to the cultural heritage of our people," said the museum's director Petru Vicol.

The event is becoming an annual tradition organized at the initiative of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, in partnership with the Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova and the Synodal Sector for Cultural Relations.

The Christmas spirit was also celebrated with other remarkable events dedicated to carols and winter traditions. The Choral-Musical Association organized the 15th edition of the National Festival "Carols, Carols...", one of the most awaited events of the year.

The national competition, hosted by the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, brought together 34 artistic collectives from all over the country. The event culminated in a grand concert at the Organ Hall in Chisinau. The country's 10 best choirs in the "United Choir" format performed famous carols, accompanied by the Moldovan National Youth Orchestra under the baton of conductor Andriano Marian. The three-hour performance delighted the audience with a selection of national and international carols.
