Priests and parishioners of several churches marched today, July 13, on the streets of the capital, sending a message that they were running out of patience to the government. Even after the MPs decided that IDs with the identification code named by some “the devil’s code” are not obligatory, the believers warn that the power of faith would rally the masses if the Parliament intended to adopt any laws that contravened the norms of the Church, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Ghenadie Valuta, leader of the Pro-Ortodoxia Association, claims that churchgoers would not admit to be discriminated in their own country. “Today, we bring a message of gratitude to God, for He has helped us overcome some difficulties and we urge the governors and the parliamentarians to consider morality before implementing any draft laws”, said Valuta.
The believers plan to request new amendments to the Law on quality in fall. “We’ll demand stipulations to defend society from people with different sexual orientations who want to get a job in public institutions like schools or kindergartens”, added Valuta.
The priests and the parishioners started the Cross March with a religious service of thankfulness at the Cathedral of the Mother of God and then went around the building of the Government, the Parliament and the Palace of the Republic. Finally, they uninstalled the tents outside the Palace of the Republic, where they had protested for two weeks.
