The lovers of classical music are expected to an open-air concert that will be given by the Chisinau Youth Orchestra in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” on August 17. The concert starts at 8pm and will involve about 70 instrumentalists, IPN reports.

Orchestra conductor Adriano Marian said the concert forms part of the youth orchestra’s tour titled “Classical music should govern”. The aim of the event is to bring the classical music closer to the people, regardless of their social status. Another goal is to allow the young musicians to showcase their talent.

“By such events, we aim to make the classical music an integral part of the life of every person so that it governs in our hearts. Today the Moldovans live all over the world and do not always manage to maintain contacts between them. We think that the classical music can make the people more united,” said Adriano Marian.

The concert will include works by Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn and Neaga. The concerts of this year’s tour will involve instrumentalists from Moldova, including the Transnistrian region, and from Spain, Germany, Ukraine, and Romania. In August, the Chisinau Youth Orchestra will also give a concert at the Organ Hall in Chisinau and two concerts in Romania’s Sinaia and Bucharest.
