The contract for the rehabilitation of Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd, Negruzzi Blvd and Vasile Alecsandri St was signed by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca with violations. Such a conclusion was reached by a commission of inquiry consisting of municipal councilors, which compiled a report and will present it to the Chisinau Municipal Council, IPN reports.

The commission’s head Veaceslav Bulat told a news conference that the mayor general of Chisinau wasn’t empowered by the Chisinau Council to sign such a contract. Without consulting the local councilors, the mayor accepted very harsh conditions imposed by the banks that provided loans for repairing these streets.

Veaceslav Bulat and Victor Gurau, who is the secretary of the commission of inquiry, told the journalists that the tender contest to choose the contractor was also held with procedural violations. There was selected a company that was earlier chosen to repair Alecu Russo St, but it does not appropriately fulfill the works.

Victor Gurau said he will submit the report with all the findings to the Prosecutor General’s Office as he suspects an agreement between the Chisinau City Hall and mafia groups. He will also demand suspending the contract for the rehabilitation of the given streets as the works haven’t yet started.

The commission of inquiry was set up by a decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council on June 3. The members of the commission are municipal councilors representing different fractions.
