The Communist MPs on Friday presented three draft laws, including a bill on lustration and a bill on foreign agents. Another draft law amends the Electoral Code so that citizens from the diaspora can no longer vote with expired documents, IPN reports.

In a press conference, MP Diana Caraman said that this package is extremely important to clear the country of corruption, defend sovereignty and ensure free and fair elections.

The parliamentarian noted that the Republic of Moldova remains a captured state even today as the power is usurped. The initiative on lustration imposes a 10-year ban on the holding of state office for those who participated in the usurpation of power and provides for the confiscation of the illegally obtained wealth.

The second draft law refers to foreign agents that, according to the MP, exist in many states. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure transparency in obtaining information about foreign objectives and funding of nongovernmental organizations.

Diana Caraman also referred to the proposed amendments to the Electoral Code. It goes to the elimination of the right to vote abroad with expired documents. In her opinion, voting with expired documents is a scheme through which the government ensures the necessary number of votes.

"This package of laws will change the country. These are not simple bills, but are real mechanisms to protect the state from corruption, foreign influence and political manipulation," said the parliamentarian.

The MP of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists also said that, even if these initiatives are not supported by Parliament, they will definitely be adopted by the next legislature.
