The Consumer Protection Agency wants to have more efficient cooperation relations with the public organizations working in the field, the Agency’s director Alexandru Cuzimuc said in a roundtable meeting. The discussions centered on the joint promotion of activities to inform and educate the consumers so that they know their rights and obligations, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”Our meetings with the public associations were rare until now and we want to systematize them, especially as regards the information and education of the consumers. Regretfully, only two organizations of the eight invited sent their representatives to the meeting, but we hope that there will be more people at the next meetings,” stated Alexandru Cuzimuc.
Anatolie Silistrari, head of the Economy Ministry’s Consumer Protection Division, said the relations with civil society should be systematized based on one or several partnership agreements.
Ruslan Baciu, of the League for the Defense of Consumers’ Rights, expressed his concerns about the protection of the consumers in the financial sector, especially when they take out loans.
Tatiana Gogu, of the public association “Protectia Consumatorilor” (“Consumer Protection”), said the information activities for consumers can be financed through foreign assistance projects or from the state budget.
The NGOs working in the field were invited to take part in the seminars organized by the Consumer Protection Agency in the country’s territorial-administrative units. This year, such seminars have been held in 40 settlements.
