The Customs Service denies that one of its employees caught the A (H1N1) flu virus. The information about the infected customs officer was made know at Monday’s meeting of the Chisinau City Hall by the Health Division head Mihai Moldovanu, who was quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The Customs Service sent a letter to IPN, asking that “the source of information be checked and that the information published on the agency’s website be rectified.”
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Mihai Moldovanu confirmed that the 27-year-old man working at the checkpoint of the Chisinau International Airport got infected. The chief doctor of Chisinau admits that the man might be border guard, not necessarily customs officer. He considers that the Customs Service shouldn’t get so agitated even if a mistake was committed as regards the institution where the man works. Customs officers, border guards and representatives of other institutions work at the airport’s checkpoint. What is important is that the institution takes measures to prevent the spread of the infection.
A communiqué placed on the Customs Service’s website says: “The information that the person diagnosed with pandemic flu in Chisinau on August 24 is an employee of the Customs Service was not confirmed”. It also specifies the measures to protect and prevent the infection with the
A (H1N1) flu virus taken in full compliance with the present regulations, after coordinated with the Ministry of Health.
According to the Chisinau Emergency Station, another four employees of the checkpoint of the Chisinau International Airport were admitted to the infectious diseases hospital “Toma Ciorba” after suspected that they have got pandemic flu.
