Three persons, one of whom was arrested, are suspected of appropriation by which they caused damage of 4.5 million lei to the state-run company “Garile si Statiile Auto” “(Auto Terminals and Stations”), IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the scheme involved employees of the company and a transport firm based in Soroca. It was established that in 2010-2016, a number of executives of the company, together with decision makers of the carrier, introduced data about the sale of inexistent tickets in the information programs, creating thus preconditions for unjustifiably transferring about 4.5 million lei to the firm’s bank accounts.
As a result of searches performed at the homes of those suspected of being involved, three persons were classed as suspects. One of these was placed under arrest for 72 hours. The three face 8 to 15 years in jail.
