Individuals can bring perfumes and eau de toilette into the Republic of Moldova, regardless of their value or quantity, but provided that the goods are declared to the customs authority and the related import duties are paid. Clarifications on the regime applicable to perfumes and eau de toilette introduced by individuals were made by the Customs Service to ensure compliance with the legal framework, IPN reports.

The Customs Service sad that when perfumes and eau de toilette are in the luggage of travelers coming from abroad, they can benefit from exemptions from the payment of import duties, provided that the goods are not intended for sale or if the total value does not exceed €300 per person for land transport and €430 euros per person for air transport.

If sent by parcel post, perfumes and eau de toilette are excluded from the category of goods for which the exemption of €150 euros is granted. So, regardless of the value and quantity, they must be declared to the Customs Service and are subject to a number of payments, such as customs duty, VAT, excise duty.

For non-commercial packages sent between natural persons, customs exemptions are applied if the total value of the batch does not exceed €150 and the quantities fall within the following limits: perfume up to 50 ml, eau de parfum up to 250 ml. If any of these limits is exceeded in quantity or value, the goods are to be declared and the corresponding import duties must be paid.
