Digital medical certificates will not replace certificates on paper, but are rather part of a database that digitizes the content of the standard certificates, clarifies Tatiana Zatîc, department head at the Ministry of Health.
Digital certificates will be effectively introduced on July 15 and will duplicate hard-copy certificates issued on July 1 and later.
Tatiana Zatîc said the medical certificate will appear in the digital database on the date the medical leave expires, and not when the certificate is issued.
Patients will still be required to present the hard-copy certificate to their employers, and digital certificates will exist solely for the purpose of keeping an accurate record so as not to jeopardize the payment of sickness benefits.
