The export of services from Moldova doubled in volume in four years. In 2023, Moldova exported services to the value of US$2.4 billion, according to Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba.

Currently, the export of services accounts for 42% of Moldova’s total exports and the minister is sure that the figure will yet rise. “This already means tens of thousands of high-paying jobs here, at home. When we say we’re building a service-based economy, that’s what we mean. We have competitive advantages that we make a good use of,” Dumitru Alaiba wrote on social media sites, being quoted by IPN.

Among the exported services are transport, travel, telecommunications and IT, raw material processing and business services.

At the same time, the export of business services, with a focus on managerial and professional consulting, in 2023 increased by 31% compared to 2022, totaling US$246 million. The export of IT services was up 23% to US$629 million. The export of transport services grew by 7% to US$540 million.

“We make and export products of the highest quality. But we also export more and more services. That’s the economy we’re building – diversified and dynamic. An economy in which we remove the barriers, promote investments and entrepreneurship, facilitate access to new markets and offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to manifest themselves on the global market,” said Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba.
