Education unions are asking the government to consider bringing salaries for teaching staff up to the national average.
In a statement issued on Monday, the unions said that despite the salary hikes since the beginning of this year, the average salary in education is by more than 3,000 lei below the national monthly average. An estimated 3 billion lei would be needed to even up education salaries.
This year, the predicted average monthly salary in Moldova is 13,700 lei.
The unions hope the authorities will take a decision by the Education Worker’s Day on October 5.
