Posters with electoral content appeared on the streets in Chisinau despite the ban imposed by the local authorities a month ago for the reason that there was no more room for billboards. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the municipal subdivisions to examine these posters that were placed before the official start of the election campaign without coordinating the action with the Chisinau administration, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Among the messages written on the posters set up at the beginning of this week are: We want fewer words and more deeds, We want better roads, We want competent administration, We want to be proud of our city.
“The election campaign has not yet started officially. Those who began the election campaign illegally by installing posters without authorization cannot win people's trust if they started by violating the Election Code and the regulations concerning the placement of posters,” said the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca also said that the posters had been set up by his Communist opponents in the future election campaign that will precede the local elections.
The companies that set up such posters illegally will be penalized.
